Registration will open at 7:00 am on both mornings.  Be sure to come early so you can attend the Breakfast Banquet and Awards Ceremony which will begin promptly at 8:00 am on April 30th.  For security reasons, all meeting attendees will be required to present their photo ID (company ID badge or government-issued photo ID) and their registration confirmation from 123signup.com in order to gain entry into the South San Francisco Conference Center.  We will be checking at the door, so have these out and ready to present for inspection when you arrive.  At the registration desk, you will be issued a badge and a meeting bag.  If you lose your registration badge, there will be a $25.00 replacement fee.  You will need your badge on both days for the meeting.

Workshop participants will need to bring their badge and their photo ID in order to board the shuttle to the workshop location.  Another person may not substitute for the person who is registered for the workshop.  Please meet in front of the conference center near the entrance doors to the left.  You MUST be there 45 min before your scheduled workshop – the shuttles leave promptly at 7:15 am and 8:15 am.  The return shuttle will board 10 minutes after the scheduled end of the workshop to bring you back to the conference center.  You will return in time to have lunch at the conference center.  Continental breakfast items will be served at the workshop location.

The South San Francisco Conference Center is a fully handicapped-accessible facility.  If you need any disability accommodations for the meeting or a workshop, please contact Sonja Wallace at sonjalwallace@gmail.com.

California Academy of Sciences NightLife, Thursday, April 30th from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Every Thursday night, the Academy will be transformed into a lively venue filled with music, provocative science, mingling, and cocktails, for visitors 18 and older – it’s a chance for adults to explore the museum in a whole new light.  Activities and performers change week to week.   Adults can enjoy music, science, cocktails, food, exploration, and a general broadening of the mind.  Tickets are $10 ($8 for Academy members). Last entry is 9:00 pm.  Check their website for updates on the program: http://www.calacademy.org/events/.

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball Game at AT&T Park
Join us for a night game on Friday, May 1st with the hometown favorite San Francisco Giants vs. the Colorado Rockies, at AT&T Park. AT&T Park, with its breathtaking views and classic design, received rave reviews throughout the country as one of the smash hits of 2000. The first privately financed ballpark in Major League Baseball since Dodger Stadium (1962), the Giants' new home features an inspiring nine-foot statue of America's greatest living ballplayer, Willie Mays, at the public entrance; home runs that splash into McCovey Cove (named after another Hall of Fame Willie); an 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle with playground slides and miniature AT&T Park behind left field that has become a magnet for kids of all of ages; and mass public transit that rivals any sports complex in the world. The first pitch will be thrown out at 7:15 pm. Tickets range from $12 for centerfield bleachers, to $35 for lower box seats. For more information about the game, contact
sonjalwallace@gmail.com, or visit the giants website.

The Marine Mammal Center at Marin Headlands
On Saturday, May 2nd, the Marine Mammal Center veterinary staff will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the campus to District 8 attendees during a particularly active season for rehabilitation efforts. The marine mammal center (TMMC) is a nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured, sick and orphaned marine mammals, including pinnipeds, dolphins, porpoises, whales and sea otters. Since it was founded in 1975, TMMC has rescued and treated more than 13,000 marine mammals along a 600 miles stretch of California coastline, from Medocino County through San Louis Obispo County. TMMC is the largest marine mammal facility in the world to combine animal rehabilitation with an on-site research lab. The Center’s medical and scientific staff has published findings on marine mammal biology in leading scientific journals and collaborates with colleagues in Mexico, Australia, Europe and South America. TMMC is staffed by veterinarians, veterinary technicians, scientists, educators and 800 volunteers. TMMC is in the process of completing an extensive renovation project converting the visitor center, animal quarters, preparatory kitchen, clinical and research areas into a modernized, eco-friendly operation. The tour will begin at 10:00 A.M. and a $10 donation is requested at the door. Contact Larry Young at
lyoung@science.sjsu.edu for reservations, directions or additional information.

Sunset Cruise on San Francisco Bay
Saturday, May 2nd, join us for a spectacular sunset cruise on San Francisco Bay aboard the Bay Lady, a 19th century replica of a schooner, with Rendezvous Charters. This two-hour cruise takes you up the city front and into the Bay towards Alcatraz. Snacks are included and there's a cash bar that sells beer, wine, and soft drinks. The Bay Lady sets sail 2 hours before sunset (~6:30 pm) and leaves from Pier 40. The cost of the cruise is $25/adults, $20/kids under 12 payable to the tour organizer. Contact sonjalwallace@gmail.com
for more information or visit Rendezvous Charter's website.
